Taylor Downing is a Historian, Writer and Broadcaster. He worked at the Imperial War Museum before starting as a Researcher at Thames Television where after a few years he began directing documentaries. He went on to co-found Flashback Television an independent production company. As Managing Director at Flashback he produced a wide range of programmes including hundreds of history documentaries for broadcasters in Britain, the United States and Europe including several long-running series. For the last fifteen years he has concentrated on writing popular histories that have been translated into eight languages and sold around the world. He regularly appears in television documentaries and on podcasts. He frequently gives Talks to Book Festivals, History Societies, schools and universities. He is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society.
